"We had 6 REALLY overgrown trees on our property and Brock's crew spent the day removing one and pruning the others along with two hedges. They were really nice guys, communicative, and worked so quickly. I'm beyond impressed with the results! Should have called them years ago before my yard became so overgrown. 10/10 would recommend!!"

The Crew Redmond Property Owners Rely On

Redmond is a short drive west of Carnation, where Haskins Tree Care is based, with the plateau communities of Union Hill, Novelty Hill, and Ames Lake sitting right in between. So when you call us you are not getting a franchise crew driving in from three counties over. You are getting a local team that already works this side of the Eastside every week and knows its trees, its neighborhoods, and its rules.

Redmond is a different setting from the rural valley. Established neighborhoods like Education Hill and Grass Lawn, newer communities out on the Novelty Hill plateau, and wooded greenbelts throughout the city mean tall, mature conifers growing close to homes, fences, and power lines. That makes a lot of the work here technical, removals with no room to drop a tree, where rigging and crane work matter. We tailor every job to the property in front of us.

Brock Haskins is on-site for nearly every job, which means owner-level care from the first walk-through to final cleanup.

What We Offer in Redmond

Tree Services for Established Redmond Yards

Whether it is a single towering fir between two houses or storm cleanup after a windstorm, our crew handles it. Here is what we offer Redmond property owners, and why each one matters here specifically.

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Crowded, mature trees in established yards need thinning for light, airflow, and storm resilience. Regular crown thinning and deadwood removal lowers limb-failure risk before a windstorm finds the weak spots. We also handle structural pruning for fruit and ornamental trees, and we never top trees.

Stump Grinding

After a tree comes down, the stump does not have to stay. We grind stumps below grade to clear tripping hazards and free up your yard, from a single backyard stump to several at once.

Hazard Tree Removal

A leaning fir, a storm-cracked limb, or root rot in a tall conifer near the house all call for prompt attention. In Redmond, a hazard tree needs a certified arborist's assessment on file with the city, and we can handle that step along with the removal.

Close Quarters Removal

On Redmond's tight, established lots, big trees often stand right against homes, fences, and power lines, with no room to drop them. Our crew uses technical rigging and precision cutting to bring them down piece by piece without touching your property.

Chipping

We chip and haul all brush, branches, and debris from every job. Our commercial chippers process material on-site, and we can leave the chips for your landscaping or haul them away.

24/7 Emergency Response

Redmond's storm season runs October through March, when Puget Sound windstorms bring tall trees down on homes, driveways, and power lines. They do not wait for business hours. Our emergency crew is available around the clock, every day of the year.

Caring for Mature Eastside Trees

Redmond's trees face a few specific pressures, and they are worth knowing about as a property owner here.

Big Trees in Tight Spaces

Much of Redmond's tree canopy is mature conifers in established neighborhoods, often towering over homes on lots that were planted decades ago. As those trees age, deadwood, lean, and root issues become safety concerns, and removing or pruning them safely takes rigging and experience, not just a chainsaw.

Windstorms

Puget Sound windstorms test tall, exposed trees, especially ones that lost their neighbors to past clearing or storms. Proactive thinning and assessment make a real difference before the next big blow.

Cedar Dieback and Maple Decline

Western red cedar dieback and bigleaf maple decline are active forest-health concerns across western Washington, documented by WSU and Washington DNR. Watch for thinning canopies, top dieback, flagging branches, and reduced leaf size, and get an assessment if you see them.

A working knowledge of the Pacific Northwest is part of doing this job right here. Our crew assesses lean, soil conditions, and proximity to structures before any cut. If you have a tree you are unsure about, an honest assessment from an experienced arborist is the cheapest insurance you can buy.

Redmond Permit Rules

What You Need to Know About Redmond Tree Permits

Redmond protects its tree canopy more strictly than most cities nearby, so it pays to know the rules before you cut. Here is the short version for homeowners:

You need a city Tree Removal Permit to remove any significant tree, which Redmond defines as a tree at least 6 inches in diameter measured 4.5 feet above the ground.

On a developed single-family lot, the number you can remove per year depends on lot size: up to 2 trees on lots up to 10,000 square feet, 4 on lots up to 20,000, 6 on lots up to 30,000, and 8 on larger lots.

Removing a landmark tree, meaning a significant tree over 30 inches in diameter, or going over your yearly limit, requires a Tree Exception Request.

Hazardous, dead, or dangerous trees do not count toward those limits, but the city requires a hazard tree declaration with a certified arborist's assessment before removal. We can take care of that step.

Each significant tree you remove must be replaced, generally one new tree per removal, or three for a landmark tree. Trees in a protected area or a Native Growth Protection Area cannot be removed unless they are hazardous.

City Permit Contact Redmond's rules change with lot size, tree size, and critical areas like streams and wetlands, so it is worth confirming the details for your property. The city's Planner on Call can help at 425-556-2494, and we are glad to walk you through the process and handle the paperwork side.
