"Had a huge fir we needed removed that was right between our house and the neighbor's. Haskins brought a crane in, took it down section by section, and you would not even know they had been there. Zero damage. Worth every penny."

No Room to Drop It

When There Is No Room For Error

Not every tree removal is straightforward. When a tree is wedged between homes, fences, power lines, and other structures, dropping it in one piece is not an option. Every cut, every limb, every section has to be planned and controlled.

Our crew uses technical rigging, crane assistance, and precision cutting to bring trees down piece by piece, without touching what is around them. Roofs intact. Fences untouched. Landscaping where you left it.

Fully licensed, insured, and experienced on the work that other crews turn down.

Common Situations

Where Close Quarters Comes In

Most urban and suburban tree removals turn into close-quarters jobs the moment the tree is too tall to lay flat on the property. Here is where it comes up.

The Toolkit

How We Get a Tree Down Without Touching Anything

Close-quarters removal is not one technique. It is the right technique for the job, executed by a crew that knows the difference.

Technique #1

Rigging & Lowering

Rope systems, lowering devices, and rigged blocks let us bring sections down piece by piece — slow, controlled, and stopped before they hit anything.

Technique #2

Climbing & Sectioning

A skilled climber takes the tree apart from the top down. Limb by limb, then the trunk in manageable sections — every cut planned around what is below.

Technique #3

Crane-Assisted Removal

For large or compromised trees in tight spots, a crane lifts each section clear of the property entirely. Faster, lower-risk, and the safest option for the biggest jobs.

Technique #4

Precision Felling

When there is just enough room, an experienced sawyer can drop a tree exactly where it needs to go — within a few feet of a target. Notches, bore cuts, and the right wedges matter.

Frequently Asked

Close Quarters Removal FAQ

The most common questions we get about technical, close-quarters tree removal.

What counts as a close-quarters removal?
Any removal where the tree cannot simply be dropped in one piece. If the tree is over a home, between buildings, near power lines, above landscaping, or on a lot too small to lay it flat, it is a close-quarters job. That is most urban and suburban tree removals.
Why does it cost more than a regular removal?
Close-quarters work takes longer, requires more equipment, and demands a more experienced crew. Rigging gear, crane time, climbing time, and the precision involved all add cost. You are paying for the skill and equipment that protects your property from much larger damage.
Are you insured if something goes wrong?
Yes. We carry full liability and workers' comp insurance. We are happy to provide certificates of insurance to homeowners, HOAs, or commercial property managers before the job starts.
When do you use a crane versus climbing?
Crane work is usually faster, lower-risk, and the right call for large trees, compromised trees, or extremely tight quarters where rigging would be too slow. Climbing is the right approach for medium and smaller trees, trees in spots a crane cannot reach, or where crane setup would damage more than it saves.
Can you take a tree out over my new roof / new patio / pool?
Yes, regularly. The whole point of close-quarters technique is that nothing under the tree ever bears the weight of a falling section. Sections are lowered or lifted clear — they do not free-fall.
Do you coordinate with the power company?
For trees in direct contact with energized lines, we work with PSE or the local utility to de-energize the area before we start. For trees that are simply close to lines, our crew is qualified to work near them safely.
Can you do this in a single day?
Most close-quarters removals are completed in a single day, including cleanup. Larger jobs or multi-tree projects may take longer. We will give you an exact timeline at the estimate.
