Jessika McEliece
"Excellent quality & service! Brock & his team at Haskins Tree Care were amazing in helping us with our giant Deodar cedar. Twice we had two tree-sized branches fall during storms and cause serious damage to our home. Brock came with his team and not only removed another giant problematic branch, but they limbed up and cabled others to prevent any further damage to ours and our neighbors homes. It gave us such peace of mind when the windstorms came. And they did come! They are safe, skilled and professional. Brock was able to come quickly to assess our tree, give us a quote and get us on their calendar before the storms came. And his quote was super competitive and such a huge value (not that you can put a price on safety). Thank you Haskins!"

An Owner-Run Crew for Bellevue Yards
Bellevue is the hub of the Eastside, and it is part of the territory our crew covers from our home base in Carnation. So when you call us you are not getting a national franchise routing a crew through a call center. You are getting an owner-run, Pacific Northwest team that works the Eastside regularly and knows its trees, its neighborhoods, and its rules.
Bellevue runs from the downtown core out to established neighborhoods and wooded hillsides, luxury lots in West Bellevue, hillside homes in Somerset, Newport, Cougar Mountain, and Lakemont, and big-lot, tree-lined streets in Bridle Trails. On these properties, tall, mature conifers often stand close to homes, driveways, retaining walls, and utilities, with tight access and steep ground. That makes the work technical and careful, and it is exactly what our crew is built for.
Brock Haskins is on-site for nearly every job, which means owner-level care and accountability from the first walk-through to final cleanup.

Tree Services for Bellevue Homes and Hillsides
Whether it is a towering fir wedged between two houses or storm cleanup on a steep lot, our crew handles it. Here is what we offer Bellevue property owners, and why each one matters here specifically.
Tree Trimming & Pruning
Mature trees on close-set Bellevue lots need thinning for light, airflow, and storm resilience. Regular crown thinning and deadwood removal lowers limb-failure risk before a windstorm finds the weak spots. We also handle structural pruning for fruit and ornamental trees, and we never top trees.
Stump Grinding
After a tree comes down, the stump does not have to stay. We grind stumps below grade to clear tripping hazards and free up your yard, from a single backyard stump to several at once.
Hazard Tree Removal
A leaning fir on a slope, a storm-cracked limb, or root rot in a tall conifer near the house all call for prompt attention. In Bellevue, a hazard tree still needs a city permit and a certified arborist's hazard assessment, and we can handle that step along with the removal.
Close Quarters Removal
On Bellevue's tight, established, and hillside lots, big trees often stand right against homes, fences, retaining walls, and power lines, with no room to drop them. Our crew uses technical rigging and precision cutting to bring them down piece by piece without touching your property.
Chipping
We chip and haul all brush, branches, and debris from every job. Our commercial chippers process material on-site, and we can leave the chips for your landscaping or haul them away.
24/7 Emergency Response
Bellevue's storm season runs October through March, when Puget Sound windstorms bring tall trees down on homes, driveways, and power lines. They do not wait for business hours. Our emergency crew is available around the clock, every day of the year.

Caring for Trees in a Hillside City
Bellevue's trees face a few specific pressures, and they are worth knowing about as a property owner here.
Big Trees on Tight, Sloped Lots
Much of Bellevue's canopy is mature conifers planted decades ago, now towering over homes on close-set or hillside lots. As those trees age, deadwood, lean, and root issues become real safety concerns, and removing or pruning them safely takes rigging and experience, not just a chainsaw.
Clay Soils and Windstorms
Heavy clay soils hold water and give roots less to grip, and Puget Sound winter windstorms test tall, exposed trees, especially ones that lost their neighbors to past clearing or construction. Proactive thinning and assessment make a real difference.
Cedar Dieback and Maple Decline
Western red cedar dieback and bigleaf maple decline are active forest-health concerns across western Washington, documented by WSU and Washington DNR. Watch for thinning canopies, top dieback, flagging branches, and reduced leaf size, and get an assessment if you see them.
A working knowledge of the Pacific Northwest is part of doing this job right here. Our crew assesses lean, soil conditions, slope, and proximity to structures before any cut. If you have a tree you are unsure about, an honest assessment from an experienced arborist is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
What Bellevue Requires Before You Cut
Bellevue protects its tree canopy strictly, and the city updated its rules in 2024, so it pays to know them before you cut. Here is the short version for homeowners:
You need a city permit to remove any significant tree, which Bellevue defines as 6 inches or more in diameter, or any landmark tree, which is generally 24 inches or more (some slower-growing native species count as landmark at smaller sizes). A permit is required even for trees you are otherwise allowed to remove.
On residential property outside critical areas, you can remove a limited number of significant or landmark trees per year without having to plant replacements, as long as trees remain afterward. That yearly number depends on your lot size, and above it, replacement planting is required.
Hazardous trees do not count toward that yearly limit and are exempt from replacement, but they still require a permit and a certified arborist's hazard assessment. We can handle that step.
Landmark trees may only be removed by a licensed contractor, and removal gets extra scrutiny.
Trees in a critical area or buffer, meaning steep slopes, streams, wetlands, or shoreline, follow stricter rules. A hazard tree in a critical area can be removed first in a true emergency, but you must notify the city and apply for the clearing and grading permit within 14 days, with a qualified professional's documentation.
City Permit Contact Bellevue's rules turn on tree size, lot size, and whether your property includes a critical area, which many hillside lots do, so it is worth confirming the details for your address. The city's Land Use planners can help, and we are glad to walk you through the process and handle the permit side.
